Connecting Google Analytics lets your own Google Analytics 4 property see what shoppers do on your online store: which pages they open, which products they look at, what they put in their bag, and what they buy. The account stays yours: we never sign in to it, and we do not run any advertising for you. It is on every plan.
Before you start
You need your own Google Analytics 4 property, and its Measurement ID, which Google shows in the property's data stream settings. It begins with G-.
Connect it
Open Integrations in the sidebar, and type "Google" into the search box to find it.
Choose Connect. Its page opens with one box, Measurement ID, and the events it sends.
Paste your Measurement ID and choose Connect Google Analytics 4. The ID is checked as it is saved, so one in the wrong shape is refused there and then.
Once connected, the page shows Check it is working, with Open Google Analytics: open your online store, then look at Realtime in Google Analytics.
What it sends, and when
Events sent lists every event, each with what it means: a page opened, a product viewed, a collection or search, a search, added to cart, checkout opened, payment chosen, and an order placed. They are sent from the shopper's browser, and only after the shopper accepts cookies in your cookie banner; see Settings → Customer privacy.
If it does not work
- Nothing arrives in Google Analytics: check the ID is the one for this property, open your online store, accept cookies, and look again with Open Google Analytics.
- Some shoppers never appear: they declined cookies, so nothing is sent for them. That is the shopper's choice.
- You want to stop sending: open its page in Integrations, and disconnect it from the menu beside Save.
